Herzog College is excited to announce the appointment of one of its own graduates – Amihai Bannett – as the new CEO of Herzog Global, the international division of Israel’s leading Jewish teacher training college.
Amihai Bannett joins Herzog Global from the Jewish Agency for Israel, where he worked for the past 10 years as director of the global Chidon HaTanach competition, and coordinator of the Global School Twinning Network.
Born in Israel to English-speaking parents, he spent two years living in New Jersey as a teenager. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Herzog College (Class of 1995) and his Masters in Education Administration & Supervision from Loyola University in Chicago. He served for four years as an emissary (shaliach) of the Jewish Agency in Winnipeg, together with his wife, Tamara. They now live in Bet Shemesh with their four children. Amihai is an active Wikipedia contributor and has 10,000 followers on his @IsraelConnect Twitter account.
Amihai is excited to join the Herzog Global team. He says: “I have taught at day schools in Israel and in Canada, where I was also the principal of a Jewish day school. This background, together with my experience of working with educators around the world to strengthen the connection between Israel and the Jewish people, will assist me in my work at Herzog College . I am passionate about education and look forward to learning from other educators and working to enhance Jewish education around the world.”
