Herzog Global’s new teacher training initiative, Herzog Learning Labs, is taking off around the globe in Germany, Mexico, South Africa and the UK.
This initiative has been developed in partnership with Kadima Coaching and UnitEd, and with funding from the Pincus Fund. In each school, a select cohort of six teachers is receiving one-on-one coaching and tailored professional development, suggesting ways that they can incorporate student-centered active learning in their school.
The Herzog Learning Labs will run over the course of several months in Broughton Jewish Primary School in Manchester, the Lauder Beth Zion School in Berlin, Colegio Hebreo Maguen David in Mexico City, and the King David Schools in Johannesburg.
Sarah Golubtchik, Director of Educational Innovation & Development, who manages the initiative, explains: “The idea is to encourage a change in teaching practices, by working closely with the school administrators and training “teacher ambassadors“. Our goal is to ignite change throughout the school, as they share their new skills with the rest of the Judaic Studies faculty, as well as implementing them in their own classrooms.”
