Herzog Global Joins DEEP Consortium, Attends Prizmah Conference

Herzog Global has been invited to join the DEEP Consortium, a community of independent organizations that provide high-quality professional development to educators in Jewish day schools.

DEEP stands for “Developing Embedded Expertise Programs”, and its mission is to promote excellence in Jewish day school education and stabilize its workforce through vigorous commitment to the ongoing professional growth of teachers and school leaders. (https://deepconsortium.org/)

Amihai Bannett, Herzog Global CEO, says: “We are proud to join this prestigious consortium of education organizations and to work with them to support the work of day schools and invest in the excellence of Jewish education.”

New Hybrid Professional Development Program

Attending the Prizmah Conference in Boston in February, Herzog Global will be launching its new professional development program for schools, with pedagogy courses focused on strategies for Judaic Studies teaching.

As a hybrid PD program, it will include asynchronous units that they can study in their own time, with live meetings with course instructors and support from a school-based team leader. It has already been tried and tested with J.S. teachers in individual schools, and through regional Jewish education boards.  During 2025, courses will focus on active learning, student-centered lessons, teaching Tanakh as a tool for building Jewish identity, and other pedagogy skills for the Limudei Kodesh classroom.

Rabbi Reuven Spolter, who designed the program, says: “We understand how busy teachers are, with many demands on their timeץ So, we have designed our program to offer schools and individual teachers the framework they need to develop their pedagogy skills in a supportive environment”.

Among the other education tools that Herzog Global will be showing at Prizmah is their “Tanakh Is Our Story” curriculum with customizable workbooks for middle schools and high schools, and the Kitah Digital Courses tool that encourages students to familiarize themselves with Tanakh, Mishnah and Gemara texts before lessons.
