About the Course
The second semester of Dr. Roos' popular course is designed to provide further skills for effective teaching in Jewish education. It covers key principles of effective teaching, learning theories, lesson planning, curriculum development, and engaging teaching methods and strategies, all geared towards the Kodesh classroom.
This course includes three Zoom meetings and eight units for private or group study over 11 weeks.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this one-semester course, students will be able to:
- Understand the role of the teacher in Jewish education
- Apply key principles of effective teaching in the Kodesh classroom
- Use learning theories to inform their Kodesh teaching practice
- Develop effective lesson plans for the Kodesh classroom
- Differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Use active learning techniques to engage students
- Use different types of assessments to measure student learning
- Manage a classroom in a respectful and effective manner, based on Jewish principles
Course Requirements
- Attendance and participation in all online classes
- Completion of all assigned readings and activities (30%)
- Now It’s Your Turn Blog Posts (30%) (at the end of each unit)
- Final project (30%) (at the end of the course)
- Reflection (10%)
