Torat Eretz Yisrael

The blessed return to the Land of Israel in recent generations has transformed the world of Torah study in many ways. With careful thought and proper methodology, Judaic Studies teachers can benefit from these new insights. In this webinar, we will examine ways to use contemporary knowledge of the geography, topography and climate of Israel, as well as archeological and historical research, to enhance our understanding and teaching of Torah texts. We will also discuss ways to incorporate Israeli history and current events into lessons in various disciplines.

About the Instructor

Rabbi Alan Haber has been involved in Torah education for over thirty years.  He currently serves on the faculty of World Bnei Akiva’s Midreshet Torah V’Avodah. He has also taught at several other Jerusalem-based institutions including Matan and Nishmat.  He is a licensed professional tour guide, and is a member of the editorial staff of the Koren Talmud Bavli and the several editions of the new Koren Tanakh.  He lectures widely in Israel and around the world, and many of his shiurim and publications can be seen on his website: www.rabbihaber.net. <br /> <br /> Rabbi Haber was one of the founders of Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY), where he served as Director for 16 years.  Prior to that, he taught high school girls at Bat Torah Academy in Suffern, NY and was Assistant Regional Director of New Jersey NCSY.  He studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and Yeshiva University.  He lives in Alon Shvut, Gush Etzion.
